Civil Engineering
The aim of studying civil engineering is to acquire and train skills in all aspects of construction through a technically and scientifically conscious broad training. As a result of the current age structure of civil engineers in the profession, the construction industry predicts a shortage of high-quality trained civil engineers over the next few decades.
All students receive common training in the areas of law, scientific principles, construction operations and geotechnics. In structural engineering, civil engineers design, calculate and measure supporting structures and foundations, from residential buildings to bridges, from sports halls to industrial buildings. Comprehensive knowledge of building materials and materials from concrete to steel and wood to glass is mandatory and therefore taken into account. Roads and rails are topics in the field of transportation. Water management and environmental technology involve the planning, construction and operation of systems for flood protection, drinking water supply and wastewater and waste disposal.
