Double Degree
Double Degree at the University West in Trollhättan
A stay abroad at the Högskolan Väst (University West) in Trollhättan (Sweden) can lead to a double degree under certain conditions. You will then be awarded a M. Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from University West and a M. Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics from Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences.
The semester abroad at the University of Applied Sciences West usually takes place in the 2nd semester as part of a 30 ECTS mobility module. Modules from the fields of Manufacturing Engineering / Metal Additive Manufacturing and Robotics and Automation can be selected at the University West, , see fact sheet. The University West offers excellent conditions for studying and is equipped with excellent laboratories.
The master’s thesis and the colloquium (30 ECTS)
The MSc thesis (30 ECTS) is supervised and assessed by two examiners, one from each university.
There is a 60 ECTS and a 120 ECTS Master's programme at the University West . If 60 ECTS are earned in the mobility module and the jointly supervised Master's thesis as described above, a Swedish Magister's degree is awarded (60 ECTS Master's programme). Additional 30 ECTS can be achieved in campus- or online modules to obtain the Swedish Master's degree. In both cases, the degree from University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern is M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering. There are no tuition fees for EU citizens in Sweden.
