Dezernat für Studien- und Prüfungsangelegenheiten

You will often come into contact with two departments during your studies: the Studierendensekretariat [Student Secretariat] and the Prüfungsamt [Examination Office]. For any questions related to your course, please contact the Studierendensekretariat for your campus. There, you can submit your application documents and process your enrollment. For any questions on exam regulations, registering for an exam, reporting illness, written exams, and any other related topic, the Prüfungsamt can offer assistance.

The new semester ticket is valid from 01.03.2025 and is valid nationwide on regional and local public transport in 2nd class. It is subject to the same regulations as the regular Deutschlandticket. Further fare regulations can be found here: Information on the Deutschlandticket

The Germany-wide semester ticket is set at 60% of the price of the regular Deutschlandticket. For the SoSe 2025, the price is €176.40, which corresponds to €29.40 per month. Price increases within a semester are not possible. In the event of price increases, the student parliament must decide whether to continue the ticket. Payment of the amount is made in the course of re-registration for the next semester.

The ticket will be available for the semester 2025 via the myVRN app, where the ticket can be purchased for €0.00 after identity verification.

As the ticket is offered as a full solidarity model, all students who are not exempt from the purchase obligation must purchase the ticket.

Only certain groups of people are exempt from the purchase and contribution obligation and can apply for a refund of the contribution for the semester ticket in the student portal. These include

- Severely disabled people who are entitled to transportation in accordance with SGB IX and can prove that they are in possession of the supplementary sheet to their severely disabled pass and the corresponding token

- Students on leave of absence for the respective semester of leave

- students who can prove that they are spending a semester abroad (outgoings) for a minimum period of three months in the semester for which they are required to pay tuition fees

- Students who can prove that they are using a network ticket at another university in Germany (second degree)

In contrast to the previous semester ticket, the student ID card is no longer valid as a ticket; instead, the ticket must be presented digitally via the myVRN app and an identity card must be held ready as a document for verification during checks.

Multi-factor authentication

Multi-factor authentication at the University of Kaiserslautern
At Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences (HSKL), access to IT services is protected by a stronger authentication procedure known as multi-factor authentication (MFA). In addition to the personal user ID, consisting of user name and user password, a further and in particular independent component, the so-called token (e.g. one-time password token), is requested as proof of identity.

Set up multi-factor authentication
You can download the instructions for setting up multi-factor authentication here:
