What does diversity mean?

Diversity (Latin: diversitas) means difference. In sociopolitical terms, it refers to the conscious and constructive engagement with diversity. Diversity management focuses on a social concept that promotes and implements an appreciative and respectful approach to difference and individuality. The goal of the Office for Diversity Management is to foster a shared understanding of diversity among members of the university, recognize diversity as an enrichment, and prevent discrimination.

The University of Kaiserslautern actively supports the development of individual potential and is committed to respectful and appreciative interactions. Only through embracing this lived diversity can the university successfully serve as a source of ideas and a driver of innovation.

The Office for Diversity Management supports employees and students in balancing the demands of work and study with their personal circumstances, family responsibilities, and/or health challenges. To this end, we have developed various resources and compiled useful information in the respective sections.
