Assessment test "Feststellungsprüfung" (FSP)
The "examination for assessment of suitability for admission to specialist study in German higher education" - the assessment test "Feststellungsprüfung - is the final examination at the Studienkolleg which earns the direct subject-specific entrance qualification for higher education.
If you pass the examination, you are entitled to study at German universities of applied sciences and universities.
The assessment test takes place twice a year, at the end of each semester.
Requirements:
- successful participation in a course at the Studienkolleg (see attendance regulations)
- or:acceptance for the external assessment test
You are allowed to resit the test once. Only if your residence permit is still valid for the following semester.

Exemption from the German examination
You can submit a written application up to two weeks before the first subject examination of the assessment test (Feststellungsprüfung) in order to be exempted from the assessment test in the examination subject German.
You will need one of the following certificates:
- Certificate of the German Language Examination for University Admission (DSH 2) with proof of unrestricted linguistic ability to study or
- the German Language Diploma of the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs - Second Level (DSD II) or
- Goethe-Zertifikat C2: Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom (GDS) of the Goethe-Institut or
- a TestDaF certificate of level TDN 4 in all partial examinations or
- Certificate of successful completion of the telc Deutsch C1 Hochschule examination or
- a certificate confirming that you have passed the Austrian Language Diploma C2 (ÖSD C2) or
- German Language Examination II of the Sprachen- und Dolmetscher-Institut München (Munich Language and Interpreting Institute)

External assessment test "Feststellungsprüfung"
It is possible to take the final assessment test without having studied a course at the Studienkolleg. For admission to this external assessment test, an application must be submitted by the regular application deadlines of the Studienkolleg.
Requirements:
- You belong to the target group of the external assessment test, which is defined in the examination regulations
- Proof of German language proficiency at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (GER) in accordance with the examination regulations
- Academic evidence of admission to higher education by means of a university entrance examination in line with the evaluation criteria (BV) published on the anabin database
Our capacities for organising external assessment tests are limited and the principle of "first come, first serve" applies.
