The course program
Maybe this is the freedom you are looking for. With a Master of Arts in Architecture at the University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern, you will acquire the skills to give free rein to your creative will in full autonomy, alone or with others.
You know what you are doing because you already have a bachelor's degree or diploma in architecture or a related field. But you want more. More knowledge, more scope, more freedom to shape the world we live in - preferably as a freelance architect. You have already gained in-depth practical experience during your studies and are now highly motivated to explore all the possibilities of the architectural profession. The Master of Arts degree is also the prerequisite for registration with a Chamber of Architects in Germany and the ability to work as an architect worldwide.
You know that you can find your professional fulfillment not only as a classical, generalist freelance architect, but also in a wide range of specializations, even in higher service, from building supervision to monument preservation. The profession of architecture has changed and offers you many opportunities.
You also know that your profession demands a high sense of social responsibility. That is why the master's program in architecture at the University of Kaiserslautern focuses on design and construction with an emphasis on sustainability, energy efficiency, demographic change, ecological building, and building in existing structures. These are terms that you have to be creative and highly skilled at if you want to be creative for yourself and the people you work for.
Degree
The Master of Arts degree in Architecture prepares students in particular for the following professional activities:
- Establishment as an independent architect [after admission to the Chamber of Architects].
- Employed in architectural and planning offices with project planning, project supervision, consulting and construction tasks, also as an employee in planning offices with urban planning tasks.
- Construction manager or project manager in a planning office or construction company
- Employee or civil servant in state and municipal building and planning offices with tasks in building design, building supervision, urban planning and monument preservation
- Activities in other interdisciplinary professional fields affected by the education, which will arise in the future due to changing social, economic and ecological conditions, including work as a consultant or expert.
While the Diplomstudiengang Architektur at universities only provides access to the higher civil service in the area of state and municipal building administrations, the Master of Arts in Architecture at the University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern qualifies for admission to the higher civil service.
Please note:
The Chamber of Architects of Rhineland-Palatinate would like to point out that only consecutive courses of study in architecture (Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Architecture) will lead to an unproblematic registration in the list of architects.
