Our Team

Constanze Schmitz  (Head of the Department of Quality in Teaching and Learning)

I have been part of the staff unit team since 2013 and have led it since 2019. So I joined the team towards the end of the development of our QM system and was able to help fine-tune the system and contribute to the initial accreditation. I am delighted to have been able to support the further development of teaching at our university and the establishment and now further development of the QM system for teaching for such a long time. Over the past few years, I have been able to contribute to, shape and implement all of our areas of work.

What I particularly enjoy about my work in QM is being able to make so many contacts across the university and gain exciting insights into the disciplines and their teaching and research areas through the accreditations.  I am a political scientist by training (Master's degree with English and public law as minor subjects) and completed my studies at the University of Mannheim and the University of Sussex / Brighton.

Wolfgang Knerr

After graduating from high school, a banking apprenticeship, two university degrees and a career in education, I have been working at Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences in various roles since 1994. My current areas of work are in the fields of university communication and study-related quality management.

As part of the Quality in Studies and Teaching team, I am particularly responsible for university-wide, teaching-related evaluations. This includes the internal and external coordination and process support of the relevant surveys, in some cases also their operational handling and involvement in the implementation of the evaluation results for the quality development of the degree programmes. The documentation and further development of the entire teaching evaluation system and its elements is also part of my remit.

Julia Bogner

Since August 2019, I have been part of the staff unit team and am involved in maintaining the teaching quality management system, e.g. by supporting programme accreditations.  But I also offer opportunities for the further development of teaching at our university with didactic services such as consultations and feedback on teaching, workshops or web seminars, which I conduct and organise.

After completing my degree in education, specialising in adult education and business studies in Landau, Würzburg, Bamberg and Bilbao, I was able to gain many years of experience in corporate training and further education, manage various projects and teams and set up and expand QM systems in the education sector.

Heike Lahm

I have been part of the team at the Office for Quality in Teaching and Learning since February 2019. My main area of responsibility is supporting internal accreditation procedures and all the tasks associated with this. The topic of ‘further development’ is particularly important to me and has always been the focus of my professional activities. For a long time, I worked in child and youth welfare as an educator and family counsellor, where I initiated and supported various projects.

Personal development was not neglected either: I completed further training as a systemic counsellor at the advanced training academy in Freiburg and completed a psychology degree (B.Sc.) at the University of Koblenz-Landau (specialising in business, media and communication psychology).

Annika Utecht

As an assistant to the Quality in Studies and Teaching staff unit, I have been the contact person for all internal and external university project partners since 2021. My tasks include organising and taking minutes of committee meetings and managing SQL funding. I am also responsible for the implementation of expert workshops in the accreditation procedures, secretarial work and website maintenance for the staff unit. Since May 2022, I have also been an employee for internal accreditation procedures.

Before that, I worked in marketing in the IT and automotive industries after completing my diploma in media consulting and my bachelor's degree in economics and philosophy.
