For HSKL, being a system-accredited university of Applied Sciences means taking a responsible, sustainable, and autonomous approach to the further development of the entire university's range of courses. In contrast to traditional program accreditations, the accreditation of degree programs within the university's own quality management system (QMS) improves the establishment of its own quality standards, but also raises the university's profile, e.g., with regard to the implementation of strategic goals. Internal procedures are used to discuss and agree on measures for the further development of the range of courses offered between university committees, university management, deans, and program directors. This joint and continuous examination of the university's own quality, objectives, and achievement of goals not only has an impact on the degree programs, but also further develops the university as an organization as a whole.

Decision of the Accreditation Council (positive)
The SQL sees itself as an interdisciplinary advisory body whose purpose is to continuously optimize accreditation procedures and assist degree programs and departments in these processes—both in terms of critical self-assessment and in identifying and implementing measures for improvement. Commissioned by the Senate, the SQL discusses the results of the procedures with those responsible for the degree programs and thus supports the president by making a recommendation on the accreditation decision and ultimately the awarding of the certificate.

On the one hand, system accreditation offers a standardized, comparable framework that can be easily organized by the administrative department, within which degree programs can be evaluated and renewed more easily than in program accreditation. On the other hand, it enables the university of Applied Sciences to establish a process on its own and independently that can be continuously expanded and optimized (keyword: gain in autonomy and self-responsibility for the quality of teaching). At the same time, consultation with external peers and experts is fully retained and can even be intensified, for example by setting up advisory boards.
