Long Version

Continuing education is the third pillar of the university alongside teaching and research.
By providing continuing education programmes, the university fulfils its basic social mission and enables interested parties to pursue high-quality academic development in the spirit of lifelong learning. The programmes are created and developed in line with the respective needs and offer participants a well-founded expansion of knowledge and skills in order to support their participation in social and technical developments in their respective professional fields. This gives rise to different concepts in the respective specialist disciplines, which are justified by the differences between the subject areas. The focus here is on the transfer of current scientific knowledge and methodological expertise.
Education in general, and continuing education in particular, is understood as a lifelong, self-directed process that should serve both personal and professional development. The acquisition of knowledge and skills by the participants takes centre stage. The design of the formats means that they appeal to people both in the region and outside it.
