Details on the funding lines
The International Office supports study abroad within Europe through Erasmus, an EU funding programme. The amount of monthly funding depends on the respective destination country. Currently:
- 600 per month for country group 1: Andorra, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, Vatican State
- 540€ per month for country group 2: Bulgaria, Estonia, Greece, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Czech Republic, Turkey, Hungary, Cyprus
Note: The number of months funded may differ from your actual length of your stay depending on the total amount of funding allocated to the International Office and the number of participants in the programme.
To be eligible for funding, you must achieve at least 15 ECTS in the semester abroad.
ADDITIONAL FUNDING
Erasmus - Green Mobility: In the spirit of "train instead of flight", travel by more sustainable means of transport is additionally funded. University members have the opportunity to receive funding for additional travel days for their Erasmus stay abroad from a distance of 500 km if they opt for sustainable/green travel.
You can calculate your "ecological footprint"
Students for whom a stay abroad may be more challenging will be particularly supported in their endeavour by being able to receive a monthly top-up of 250 euros under certain conditions. Target groups are:
- students with child(ren)
- students with disabilities
- students with chronic illnesses
- first-time graduates
- students with continuous employment.
Deadlines: Additional funding can be applied for
- by 31 May for the following winter semester
- by 30 November for the summer semester of the following year.

PROMOS is a DAAD programme and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The International Office uses this to fund the following measures for students:
Mobilities through PROMOS scholarships for:
- study abroad
- internship abroad
- language course abroad
- summer school or specialised course abroad
Selection criteria: good academic performance, motivation of the applicant, proof of necessary language skills.
Please note: Study visits and internships cannot be funded through PROMOS if funding is already available through Erasmus+ or other DAAD programmes. Likewise, tuition fees are not covered.

The Scholarship Foundation Rhineland-Palatinate awards funds to Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences. The International Office uses this to fund the following measures for full-time students:

Selection criteria: very good to good academic performance.
Current call for applications under News
Internationalisation Funds are available to all university members (students, lecturers and staff) for the strategic internationalisation of Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences on the basis of the Internationalisation Strategy 2030. A distinction is made between the two areas "International mobil 2030" and "Internationalisiation@Home". Preference is given to non-European mobilities, but also European activities. The main evaluation criterion is the extent to which the quality of internationalisation is structurally improved.
Proof of co-financing through project or department funds or similar (usually in the amount of 50%) is required. The concrete projects can be submitted to the Senate Committee for Internationalisation three times a year by means of the "Application for Internationalisation Funds at Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences". The maximum funding amount is 1,000 euros. Further explanations can be found in the application itself.
