Personnel development
The continuing education program at HS KL, which is organized by the Human Resources Development department, focuses on university-specific areas of didactic, methodological, and technical development. A wide range of courses covers basic knowledge, but also enables students to acquire more in-depth knowledge and subject-specific application skills.
Personnel development measures to promote teaching skills
In addition to the university teaching workshops, the Human Resources Development department offers a comprehensive continuing education and qualification program. These are tailored and designed to meet the needs of the entire university.
A central focus of this part of the program is seminars and workshops on examinations and examination formats. “Competence-oriented assessment” covers the framework conditions and practical implementation of examinations, as well as the goal-oriented design of examination formats.
The “E-Assessment” workshop, for example, imparts knowledge and skills for digital practice and assessment in the university-wide e-learning tool OpenOLAT. The workshop focuses on the configuration and implementation of e-assessment tools depending on the respective learning scenario.
The special offerings of university didactics are advertised, for example, in the university-wide email newsletter of the Human Resources Development department. University didactics itself has not set up its own newsletter in order to concentrate the promotion of the diverse continuing education offerings on a few communication channels. In the future, the cooperation between university didactics and human resources development is to be further expanded and intensified.
Workshops are also offered regularly to expand knowledge.
These have a technical background and aim to further educate teachers in areas not directly related to teaching and to support them in their personal development. The workshop “Copyright in Teaching” is more closely related to teaching than the others listed, but is assigned to this workshop group because the use of a learning platform, for example, is not absolutely necessary.
Teaching support seminars are also offered, which are tailored and designed to meet the needs of the entire university.
In contrast to the offerings that serve to expand knowledge, these are directly linked to teaching, which is why they are placed in this group.
One example of the networked work of university didactics and personnel development at the university is the E-Teacher Certificate. This and the “Train the Trainer” certificate are described in more detail in the following section.
