Review of Health Days 2024 on Cancer Prevention & Early Detection

This year's Health Days, themed “Cancer Prevention & Early Detection – Because we, too, wish cancer was just a zodiac sign”, took place on November 4, 2024, in Kaiserslautern, and November 11, 2024, in Zweibrücken. We are delighted by the overwhelmingly positive feedback received for this important event.

In collaboration with the Cancer Society of Rhineland-Palatinate, Techniker Krankenkasse, and other medical experts, a diverse program was offered. In addition to informative lectures on cancer prevention and early detection, workshops on movement and fitness provided practical approaches to personal health promotion.

Lectures – Knowledge First-Hand

The lectures were well-attended and, thanks to the hybrid format, participants from Pirmasens, Zweibrücken, and even from home offices could follow along.

Topics included:

  • “Cancer Prevention and Early Detection” – Eva Estornell-Borrull from the Cancer Society of Rhineland-Palatinate opened the event with a comprehensive overview.
  • “Skin Cancer: The Underestimated Widespread Disease” – Dr. Martin Lorenz emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and protective measures.
  • “The Causes and Development of Cancer” – Prof. Dr. Dr. Oliver Müller explained the scientific background of cancer formation.
  • “The Microbiome: Is It to Blame for Everything – Cancer, Parkinson’s, or Obesity?” – Prof. Dr. med. Karl-Herbert Schäfer discussed the microbiome’s impact on health.
  • “Breast Cancer: Early Detection and Screening” – Iaroslav Voskivarov presented the latest methods for early detection of breast cancer.

Workshops and Individual Sessions – Taking Action for Health

In addition to lectures, participants could engage in practical activities offered by Techniker Krankenkasse. These workshops, conducted by experts from the Institute for Prevention and Aftercare in Cologne, included seismographic measurements and a movement index assessment for personal fitness and activity analysis.

Feedback from Participants

  • “I found it very informative and to the point. Thank you for this opportunity!”
  • “A big compliment to the organizers! The lectures were highly interesting, and I learned a lot of new things.”
