Prof. Dr. rer. nat Felix Wick

Biography

I received my PhD in physics from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in 2011, working on statistical analyses of elementary particle physics experiments using machine learning techniques.

I then joined Blue Yonder, a data-science startup that evolved into a provider of cloud-based predictive applications for the retail market. There, I led the algorithms core team and developed, among other things, new methods for demand forecasting and demand shaping.

In 2018, Blue Yonder was acquired by JDA (later re-branded to Blue Yonder), a leading provider of supply-chain management software. As Corporate Vice President Data Science, I was responsible for R&D and operations of several products and services aimed at enabling an autonomous supply chain.

Following Blue Yonder’s acquisition by Panasonic in 2021, I moved to Panasonic in 2023 — assigned to the Panasonic R&D Center Germany — as Executive Data Scientist, Executive Technical Advisor, and Director of the Intelligent Systems Laboratory within Panasonic Connect’s R&D division. My work there spanned robotics, computer vision, optimization, and language modeling.

Since 2025, I have been Professor of Applied Artificial Intelligence at the University of Applied Sciences in Kaiserslautern, with a research agenda centered on advancing and applying AI methods within the engineering sciences.

Alongside my academic role, I advise a range of companies — from startups to private equity firms — on AI strategy, product innovation, and the practical deployment of advanced machine-learning technologies.
