ION-MAP - Electrical biosensors for continuous measurement of protease biomarkers
Proteases cleave peptides and proteins in the body, and abnormal concentrations are associated with diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, and psychiatric disorders. Continuous monitoring of protease biomarkers can provide insights into disease progression and therapeutic effects, but to date there are no simple online detection methods for complex samples. The project is developing electrical biosensors for the continuous measurement of protease activity. The system will then be validated in serum samples and compared with established protease detection methods.
