The cooperative / dual study model at the Hochschule Kaiserslautern

With KOSMO, we offer a cooperative study model in close partnership with businesses, which offers students and local businesses the opportunity to get to know one another early on. It is the ideal combination of an academic education and practical experience. KOSMO involves a dual study model that integrates practical experience on the part of the KOSMO student into the curriculum of the relevant course of study. As such, this basic principle means that KOSMO can also be characterized as a practice-oriented study model.

For the Financial Services course of study, KOSMO can also be studied by integrating an apprenticeship.

To participate in KOSMO, students apply directly to one of the university’s partner companies. The company and the prospective KOSMO student can determine the conditions of employment with an employment contract. Here, you can stipulate the things that are important to you, such as working hours, holiday allowance, and time for the student to prepare for their exams. The employment contract will also determine the student’s wages, which should be based on typical wages for apprentices in the relevant industry sector and should also account for the skills and qualifications the student already possesses. This wage will be paid monthly and will be included in any BAföG assessments, it is also subject to minimum wage laws and social welfare deductions.
